Join ethnobiologist and functional herbalist Hayden Stebbins for a walk through forest and field to see the world in a way you’ve never seen before. During this walk, Hayden will teach you about common introduced and native plants, how to identify them by family, and their edible, medicinal, or poisonous properties. You and the group will harvest edible plants as you go and bring them to the kitchen where you and the group will prepare a multicourse meal combining the harvest with regular food. This will include a wild plant pesto, hummus, a couple teas and an extra dish depending on what plants and mushrooms are found. If you would like to take notes (there will be a lot of fun information shared), please bring a notepad and pen. Wear appropriate clothing for a relaxed walk and weather, but most importantly, bring a big appetite and a curious mind!
“LET’S GROW!” with Curious on Hudson
Six Saturdays from May 19th 14th to June 23rd, 2018 | 10AM-1PM | $150
We are excited to partner with Curious on Hudson for this hands-on farm education program for kids 7 years and up. Each class is two hours long on Saturday on our beautiful, historic working farm right here in Westchester County. This class runs from April 14 – May 19 (6 sessions). Full dates of this program are: 4/14, 4/21, 4/28, 5/5, 5/12, 5/19.
(If you wish to enroll in less than 6 classes, please contact ; some partial registrations may be allowed). If you register more than one child at a time you are eligible for a 10% discount off the total. Please enter “sibling010” during the checkout.)
This weekly class empowers children with food and farm education and is a perfect delight for kids who want to get their hands dirty learning the who, what, and how on a real working organic farm. Rich Driscoll, a Curious-on-Hudson farm educator, will work with this class. Each week kids will have the opportunity to talk and learn directly from our farmers about what’s happening on the farm. Imagine your child helping to run a farm and contributing to the working side of a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.
